Karl Turner visits Stoneferry Primary School in support of the ‘Send my friend to school’ campaign

Karl Turner today visited Stoneferry Primary school in support of the ‘Send My Friend to School’ campaign.

Send My Friend to School brings together thousands of children across the UK to speak up for the right to education, and remind world leaders of their promise that all children should get the chance to go to school.

In the UK the campaign seeks to increase community awareness of the state of education internationally and generate the political will necessary to ensure the UK plays an active and effective part in efforts to secure education for all.

Karl was personally invited by a pupil at the school who wrote him a handwritten letter asking him to attend. Pupils at Stoneferry Primary School have been taking part in activities all week including projects focusing on friendship as well as designing themed rucksacks which are aimed at raising awareness of the cause.

Karl will now put pressure on the Government to make sure that education for those in developing countries is put front and centre in any new international development settlement.
